Mission Statement

Weather Stream’s mission is to stream real-time weather and climate intelligence to the global community

Company Vision

Weather Stream was founded to build solutions to some of the biggest problems facing humanity by leveraging its strength in developing remote sensing and data science technology. Today billions of people on our planet do not have access to basic things we take completely for granted like insurance or banks. These institutions form the backbone of a stable society which can empower itself through entrepreneurially driven economic growth.

Many different industries consume Weather and Climate Information Services, spending nearly $80B per year. This market is projected to continue to grow as countries all over the world face climate change induced impacts in the form of rising temperatures, increasing severe weather, wildfires, drought, flooding, tropical storms, typhoons, sea level rise, and a host of other challenges to maintain a resilient society. Weather Stream brings key data and tools to help people make the right decisions at the right time in the face of ever-growing instability and uncertainty in the world. As US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said early in 2021 “Climate Change is the number one threat to our National Security.”

Weather Stream is on a mission to guide humanity into a future where our society, government, and businesses are far more in tune with the environment around us. Weather Stream enables completely new ways of managing risks and planning for extreme weather events and climate change. Weather Stream solves these problems in a commercially sustainable way where we focus on having the maximum possible impact on the citizens of earth through our business model and advanced technology. Weather Stream shares freely with academic researchers around the world who develop new models and improve our understanding of nature. Weather Stream gives back to society whenever we get the chance to do so.

Weather Stream focuses on the commercialization of the weather and climate data derived from the GEMS satellite constellation, and the commercialization of the WeatherRecord and WeatherLock data platforms. Weather Stream develops new analytics where none exist, and works with partners in cases where meaningful solutions have already been developed that can benefit from additional data. Weather Stream is a supply chain partner to the global weather and climate industry.

Weather Stream’s subsidiary Orbital Micro Systems is focused on the development and deployment of the Global Environmental Monitoring System (GEMS) – a constellation of satellites making important environmental measurements used to manage environmental risks, perform weather forecasting, and monitor climate change. The capabilities of these satellites will continue to grow over time as we develop and introduce new sensors and capabilities to monitor critical environmental parameters.

Weather Stream’s joint venture with Black Swift Technologies, The Soil Moisture Company is focused on the development of UAV based soil moisture products and services, bridging a critical data gap for high resolution environmental monitoring.

Weather Stream invests in our people to help them become the best they can be. Weather Stream’s company culture is focused on innovation, and an open and transparent dialogue. Weather Stream provides leadership to a world in constant crisis by focusing on the things that can be affected and engaging with societies all over the world to understand their challenges and help develop solutions to difficult weather and climate problems. Weather Stream gives first and is a force for good.

Our doors, hearts, and minds are always open and we look forward to meeting and working with you to build an amazing future together.
